How gild works
gild is a social app on BNB Smart Chain where you back the people you follow with real tips. This page explains exactly what happens to your money, because with money the details are the product.
What gild is
Sign in with your X account and gild creates a wallet for you on the spot. You post, follow, and tip. A tip is BNB sent from your wallet directly to the other person’s wallet. That is the whole product.
Where a tip actually goes
Wallet to wallet, with no stop in between. When you tip someone, the transaction goes from your wallet to theirs on BNB Smart Chain, and gild then reads the chain to verify it happened: right sender, right recipient, right chain, confirmed and final. Only a tip the chain confirms is ever counted, and every tip links to its transaction on a public explorer, so nothing about it rests on our word.
Who holds your money
You do. gild is non-custodial: we never hold your funds, never see your keys, and cannot move anything out of your wallet. The wallet is a self-custodial embedded wallet built on Privy’s infrastructure. Your key is never assembled anywhere except on your own device, at the moment you approve a transaction. Every send, including every tip, is signed by you in your own wallet confirmation.
If gild disappeared tomorrow, your BNB would be exactly where it always was: in your wallet, on the chain.
What it costs
gild takes no cut of tips. The person you tip receives the full amount. The only cost is the network’s own transaction fee, which goes to the chain, not to us. On BNB Smart Chain that is typically a fraction of a cent.
What points are
Points track participation: sending tips, receiving support from new people, having your posts backed. They are flat per event and never scale with the amount of money involved, which keeps them a measure of genuine activity rather than of spending power.
Points measure participation in Season 0. They are not a token, not money, and carry no promise of future value.
What tickets are
Tickets are tradeable markers of backing a creator. Each creator can open their own market; prices follow a curve, rising as more tickets are bought and falling as they are sold, set by a public smart contract that anyone can inspect. Unlike tips, ticket trades carry a fee: 10% of the traded value, of which 7% goes to the creator and 3% to gild. The pool behind every market is held by the contract itself, never by us, and selling can never be switched off. Prices move both ways; never trade more than you are comfortable seeing fall.
Safety
Every post and account can be reported, and reports are reviewed by a person. Nothing is removed automatically, because an automatic takedown is a free censorship button. Moderation affects what is shown on gild; it cannot touch money, yours or anyone else’s, because we never have it.
One habit worth keeping: when you deposit, send only BNB on BNB Smart Chain, and always check the address you are sending to. Transactions on a blockchain are final.
